Celebrating 30 years of racing in Rock Hill, SC!
Results from the Classic
With a new affiliation with the Nature Valley Pro Ride and selection process, the Rock Hill Bicycle Club’s Spring omnium — now in it’s 30th year — kicked off the season for cyclists in the Southeast! The Classic featured 3 days of racing with prizes and points awarded to winners in each of 10 categories. Points are totaled and overall winners are awarded at the end of the last race. Old Town Sprints (map)

Location Old Town Rock Hill, SC

Number of Races 10 category races, up to 5 heats per race
This fast-paced, 350 meter sprint event will pit a small group of racers under the lights of picturesque Main Street in Old Town Rock Hill, SC. Cash prizes and Omnium points kick off the race weekend. Numerous heats will determine a winner in each of a variety of categories.
Patriot’s Trail Road Race (map)

Location Historic Brattonsville, SC
Estimated Participation 550 riders... Number of Races 10
The second day of the spring Classic includes the Patriot’s Trail Road Race, located in and around Historic Brattonsville in southern York County. This 47 mile, multi-loop race allows riders to challenge themselves through rolling countryside. Start / Finish is at Hightower Hall in Historic Brattonsville. Winthrop Lake Criterium (map)

Location Winthrop University Coliseum & Lake Complex
Estimated Participation 500 riders... Number of Races 12
The final day of the 2010 Classic features the Winthrop Lake Criterium. This all-day event provides ample opportunities for new and experienced racers to test their skills against racers from all over the country along a 1 mile course loop. Winthrop Lake provides is the perfect venue for spectators to watch the multi-lap race.

1991 returned to Criterium at Winthrop Lake
1993 moved to two-day event (Criterium + Road Race)
2004 participation has grown to an average of 425 racers per day
2005 Addition of Friday Night Sprints
2006 Crit moved to downtown Rock Hill, SC
» One of the first major races of the year for serious competitors
» Large racer turnout with an average of 500 racers per day
» 86% of the racers are from states other than South Carolina
» Racers have attended from Yugoslavia, Canada, CA, FL, GA, KY, LA, MA, NC, NJ, OH, OR, TN, VA, in addition to SC
» Racers conservatively generated more than 800 room nights for our area hotels and other lodging facilities
